be part of the solution.
4 ways to get involved

1. Show up.
- Come to a RWC4RE meeting. To receive the Zoom info for our weekly meetings, request to join here.
- Come to a community event hosted by RWC4RE.
- Attend a San Mateo County Board of Supervisors meeting or Redwood City Council meeting. Even better, familiarize yourself with the agenda ahead of time. Take note of the decisions that are being made.
- Sit in on meetings of city boards and commissions that interest you.

2. Start talking.
Your voice is powerful. Share your opinions with local leaders such as County Supervisors and City Council members (council@redwoodcity.org).
Share your experiences and ideas with supportive neighbors at a RWC4RE meeting. Those most impacted by racism are particularly encouraged to share their perspectives if they feel comfortable doing so. There is power in numbers.

3. Get educated.
It can be daunting learning how "the system" works, let alone how to change it. It's okay if you have no experience and no idea where to start. Most of us have no prior experience in activism or government. This group is here to help.
Learning together can be less intimidating, and more fun. Talking to folks with different perspectives and lived experiences, and learning from guest speakers from the community, can be more valuable than reading a book.
But also, do read books! Take initiative to educate yourself on anti-racism. There are many excellent resources available, and we have a few here. Most of all, strive to be teachable.

4. Engage with the democratic process.
Engage candidates for city and county office. Call them. Email them. Attend candidate forums.
Educate yourself and spread awareness on ballot measures.
Run for office or apply for a board or commission. We do not affiliate with any political party, nor formally endorse candidates, but we can provide emotional support and a sounding board to neighbors of color and allies interested in running for office.
